What we repair
- Water inlet valves — clogged screens, failed solenoids, valves that drip or will not close
- Dispenser switches, paddles and actuators
- Frozen or cracked water lines inside the door
- Water filter housings and filter heads that leak or will not hold a filter
- Water tanks and reservoirs
- Supply lines — we replace brittle plastic lines with braided stainless lines
- Hot water dispensers on models that have them
Signs of a water system problem
- Slow water or no water from the dispenser
- Small or hollow ice cubes, or no ice
- Loud buzzing behind the refrigerator when the ice maker fills
- Water dripping from the dispenser or pooling behind the refrigerator
- Water still flowing after you release the paddle
Las Vegas hard water
Most of our water comes from Lake Mead and is very hard. Minerals collect on the valve screen and in the solenoid, slowing flow and eventually stopping it. Change the refrigerator filter every six months, and consider a softener or an inline scale filter. Read our hard water guide.
Water inlet valve replacement typically costs $200 to $340 on standard refrigerators and $300 to $520 on built-ins. See pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my refrigerator buzz loudly when it fills the ice maker?
The water valve buzzes when it opens. A loud, long buzz with little water flowing usually means the supply valve is closed or the inlet valve is clogged or failing.
Can a leaking water valve damage my floor?
Yes. A valve that does not close fully can leak slowly for weeks behind the refrigerator. If you see water at the back of the unit, shut off the supply valve and call us.
