What to do when you see a code
- Write down the code. The display alternates between "Er" and the code letters.
- Power-cycle once. Unplug for five minutes or switch off the breaker. If the code returns, the fault is real.
- For Er FF or Er IF with noise: ice on a fan blade is the usual cause. A manual defrost restores operation for a while; the defrost failure behind it still needs repair.
- For Er CF: check that the condenser area at the bottom rear is not clogged and that nothing is blocking the fan. Do not keep running the refrigerator for days with a failed condenser fan — the compressor overheats.
LG cooling problems without a code
